Book Review: Star Wars Galaxy's Edge: A Crash of Fate by Zoraida Cordova

Izzy and Jules were childhood friends on the planet Batuu, playing and dreaming together as best friends do; until one day Izzy's family abruptly leaves with out saying good-bye. Jules is stunned at his friends' sudden departure, and Izzy is angry with her parents. They grow up apart with Izzy and her family chasing the stars until her parents are killed and she becomes a low level smuggler to make ends meet. Jules stayed on Batuu, becoming a farmer like his dad and dreaming of space. 13 years later Izzy returns to Batuu, a place she never thought she'd see again, to deliver a mysterious package. She intends to leave immediately after, however everything changes when she runs into Jules.

Their attraction is immediate and as they reconnect throughout the day at Black Spire Outpost, many random (or seemingly random) events happen to make Izzy re-think her feelings for Jules. He on the other hand, is unsure what his future holds but is now certain he needs Izzy in it. When Izzy's job goes wrong, it will take all they have to survive and fight for the future they both want.

I read A Crash of Fate to introduce myself to the planet of Batuu and Black Spire Outpost before my trip to Disney World. I had fun meeting new characters such as Izzy and Jules and watching their relationship throughout the story. I liked that each chapter was either from Jules' or Izzy's point of view. Switching back and forth gave me a better picture of both characters. The more I read, the more I thought this book read like a Star Wars love story. Which of course, I'm sure was the intention. The story was easy to follow, maybe at times predictable, but enjoyable none the less.

I recommend this book to anyone who is traveling to see Galaxy's Edge or has already been there. Crash of Fate introduces you to characters and places you will see at Galaxy's Edge such as Dok Ondar and his antiquity shop, Oga Garra and her cantina, DJ R-3X, and many more! I can't wait to get to Galaxy's Edge and see everything come to life!
